Beethoven’s Notable Hooks

This work is inspired by a lifelong interest and love for Beethoven.   During my childhood  his portrait hung over my mother’s grand piano (she was a concert pianist) and now hovers above my cello.

I have felt an urge to create a work to commemorate the 250th anniversary of his birth.

The first bar of his 5th symphony resonates as an iconic musical moment and lends itself as a unique motif for this work.   My aim has been to allow the metal to express visionally the vibrancy of the sound.

Made in forged steel, bronze and stainless steel, 78 cms long.
